ASTM D1404 Lubricating Grease Deleterious Particles Tester

The instrument is designed and manufactured according to ASTM D1404, suitable for measuring the number of harmful particles in lubricating grease and other semi-solids and liquids. The harmful particles is the particles that can scratch the surface of a polished plastic test piece made of polymethyl methacrylate, but it is not necessarily scratch steel and other bearing materials.


 

If there are mechanical impurities such as dust, sand, metal shavings, etc. in the grease,it will be brought into the mechanical friction part, which will not only reduce the friction reducing effect of the grease, but also aggravate the wear of the friction point and the working surface, and The friction surface is scratched, etc., so that the lubricated rolling bearing, precision machinery, and high-speed running lubrication parts quickly lose their precision, thereby shortening the service life. On general machinery, due to the influence of mechanical impurities, it will cause beating, vibration, sway or swing while being worn. In daily machinery such as household appliances and small motors, the content of mechanical impurities and the particle size in the grease must be strictly controlled.
Otherwise, it will shorten the service life and significantly increase the noise.
